RAWA MBOJO

Source: Google

One of the most entertaining cultures of Bima is rawa mbojo (traditional singing of Bima). It is one of the media to transfer messages containing moral values or jokes. Rawa mbojo is usually performed at night, in the harvest season, especially when farmers are storing yields into lengge (the traditional house of Wawo-Bima). Besides, Rawa Mbojo is also a media to entertain people working in the rice field, especially when planting rice or corns. The strain of rawa mbojo is accompanied by the rhythm of gambo (a kind of guitar) and  biola (violin). Sometimes, rawa mbojo is only accompanied by the rhythm of biola or gambo. What make it unique is that rawa mbojo has no particular lyrics; it is not composed. The singers simply sing it spontanously. They sing it from memory. However, the singers never lose their track, no matter how long the singing takes time. It goes like unstoppable asking and answering questions. What makes them stop singing is only because they are to stop or they are tired.
